“You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So… get on your way!” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
In elementary school my son received Dr. Seuss’ book, “Oh the Places You Will Go!” as a gift from his teacher. I love what this book represents. Even though it’s a children’s book, it really makes a powerful statement. It lets the reader know they can go and be anything they set their mind to. It also lets them know that they will encounter all sorts of things, some even scary, but don’t give up.
I remember thinking constantly about wanting more and daydreaming about how much I wanted my life to change and how I just wanted a better tomorrow to show up right now. Even though I had a desire and a need, I wasn’t doing much to change it. Daydreaming was getting me nowhere.
I think at times we tend to get caught up in where we want to be that we lose focus on where we are today. By doing this we completely miss the fact that we are alive today and that we must use it wisely.
“Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!”― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You Will Go!
Don’t you know that what you do and how you think today sets you up for your tomorrow?
Your attitude.
Your outlook.
Your thoughts.
Your choices.
Your mindset.
Your sacrifices.
All these items can play a positive or negative role in your life and how you proceed is key.
The accomplishments you desire are within reach but it’s all up to you. You can do anything you put your mind to and you can go anywhere your heart desires but it starts with what you do today.
Procrastination will hinder and keep you in the same place day after day.
Anything worth getting takes time and sacrifice. Begin to look at what needs to be done today so you have the tomorrow you want.
Most times we can’t blame others for our shortcomings or why we haven’t gotten to the point where we can say we “made it.” Take steps now to take your life into your own hands.
I’m a witness that once you start taking steps, each one will get easier. Some steps may be on faith but that’s okay because God is with you every step of the way.
Get busy and use today wisely. You’ll be glad you did.
